Nabatea takes its name from the ancient Nabataeans. A civilization that flourished in the deserts of the Middle East known for carving cities from rose-red stone and mastering the art of drawing water from the driest landscapes.
The word nabatu means "those who draw water."
This is the origin of everything we do. Beauty is not something we add. It is something we reveal. Every woman already carries it.
Our Founder
Nabatea was founded by Petra — a Jordanian-American designer who grew up between two cultures and found beauty in both.
It started early. As a child, she filled notebooks with color combinations and handed them to the neighborhood girls. In high school, her bedroom walls were covered floor to ceiling with fashion editorials. She and her best friend traded clothes like secrets.
But it was the culture of clothing in the Arab world that held her: garments with volume and movement, embroidery and embellishment, pieces that carried meaning. Thobes, kaftans, abayas, never just clothes.
Identity. Artistry, passed between generations.
Her own eye has always run toward more, not less. Embroidery, beading, color, ornament. Nabatea is where that instinct meets discipline: richness held in restraint, so that every detail earns its place.
One designer. One vision.
Four years studying abayas — their construction, their history, what elevates one above another. Two years designing her own. Every piece that carries the Nabatea name is designed by Petra, from first sketch to final sample. Not a design team. Not a manufacturer. One woman, with a singular vision, who still oversees production in person.
Every piece is created from nothing and released in limited quantities. Each collection is a body of work,designed with care, produced with precision, made to be kept.
