MEANING OF THE NAME
Shamiya means "of Damascus" — because you cannot speak of jasmine without speaking of the city it blankets.
STORY
The jasmine climbs walls, spills over balconies, fills the air of Damascus at dusk. It opens only when the sun has set, releasing its scent into the warm evening. For generations, Syrian women have tucked jasmine into their hair, their clothes, their memory. Delicate but persistent. Soft but unforgettable.
THE DESIGN
The Shamiya is a floor-length embroidered open abaya in baby pink Italian crepe, with white jasmine embroidery and hand-set crystal beads on the front panels and sleeves. It is fully lined and comes with a matching pink sheila.
The jasmine opens in white and ivory thread, star-shaped, each bloom centered with a pearl-white crystal bead. Deep green stems climb between the flowers, lined with green beads, the way jasmine climbs a Damascus wall. The design rises up each front panel and gathers at the cuffs, where the sleeve edge is cut to follow the blossoms so the flowers appear to spill past the hem.
Italian crepe gives the piece a heavier hand and a fluid, unhurried drape. The body is fully lined, so nothing shows through. Embroidery is designed in-house and executed with precision. Every bead is set by hand using the Tambour technique.
Designed for Eid, weddings, and any occasion that calls for presence. Sizes S to XXL. The inner dress shown is not included.
